This movie looks amazing! has anyone seen it? It also seems to be the extremely rare horse movie that doesn't feature some horrific scene of horse abuse or some heart-rending horse death. I can't watch/read hardly ANY horse-related movies/books/even cartoons (sigh) due to over intensity. Why can't these filmmakers calm down.....always going for the cheap, easy puppeteering. I guess drama is necessary but still...
I like the Saddle Club ok. except, of course, that its about 12 year old girls and I am 40. I like Horseland (cartoon) but I swear its sometimes so intense I can barely watch it. sad, I know....but there it is. The one where the horse falls down the cliff? OMG!! Def avoid if you have the LEAST sign of PMS lol, or you will get teary-eyed over this blasted cartoon.
Have you seen Secretariat? I have been trying to rent it for weeks! Missed it at the theater.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen it...too afraid to! It got good reviews though, from what I've read. let me know if you see it and there's no horrible abuse or horse suffering scenes : )!!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried McLeod's Daughters? It's very horsey -not dressage and sometimes the plot line goes crazy but it does feature strong women who love horses. :)
ReplyDeleteReally enjoying your blog!
Story: as to the scenes stuck in your head: exactly! I can still picture perfectly that awful boat scene in The Black Stalliion....and I saw that about 30 years ago!! no thanks! I like to fill my head with beauty, not horror!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about reality-type shows; so exploitive. The Saddle Club, talk about a show I wouldn't want to be caught watching hahaha buuuut... I like it : )
Billie: Thanks! I am loving your blog!
haven't ever heard of McLeod's Daughters....I will look it up...
Don't worry - the Polo Kid hasn't got anything bad happening to horses. It is a true story about one boy's journey to become a pro player and it's really good - and there are some beautiful horses in it. I bought a copy of the DVD from here www.thepolokid.com. I thoroughly recommend it. Great blog
ReplyDeletethanks John, I will def order a copy. it looks amazing
